Not much to report today, folks. Sidelined again.
Today I had planned to continue on Navarrete, but my body was not having it this morning. Achilles still more swollen than I was expecting, sore throat, cough, cold sore coming on. I made the decision to stay another day/night in my airbnb.
I suppose it’s not surprising I feel so beaten down. I’ve walked over 150km already in the snow, hail, sun, wind, on the pavement, & up and down mountain trails. The Camino has demanded everything I have- mentally, physically, emotionally- every single day. There has been no other time in my life when I have been challenged to this degree. It’s my greatest adventure yet.
I’m grateful that I have plenty of time to take this at my own pace & rest when my body tells me to rest. I’m also lucky to have a Camino friend who is on the exact same page & with the same achillies issue.
Fortunately, healing comes in many forms. Today’s modalities included icing injuries, rest, hot shower, drinking water, drinking vermouth outside as the Spanish do, journaling, chatting over pintxos and ice cream, finishing Bridgerton season 2 in bed, yoga nidra, sleep.
Two months after completing the Camino, this is what’s on my mind and heart…
July 20, 2022The bittersweet final celebrations… joyful, sad, emotional and everything in between…
