Camino Day 30: Murias de Rechivaldo to Foncebadon

Date: April 30th, 2022

Distance: 21.4km/13.2 miles

Time: 6 hours (8:15am-2:15pm)

I can’t believe today is the last day of April. I started April 1st, so today marks ONE MONTH of walking. There’s a familiarity to the Camino routine now (waking, packing, walking, arriving, chilling) and yet each day feels completely different. In the mornings, I’m finding my rhythm quickly. My backpack feels like a limb that’s just part of me now. I have about 240 kilometers to go, so I’ve walked about 560 kilometers already. These days dont feel as hard. I’m in the Camino groove.

Some Camino days are just perfect. This was one of those days. Shoutout to Chris for being such a fun and chill walking companion. We passed the time by playing about 50 rounds of categories- trees, states, ice cream flavors, world capitals, cities that are bigger than the capitals, actors and actresses, and yes, even the catogory of rocks… hah

Today was 2 cafes con leches- one at each morning stop. Today was pretty purple flowers lining the trail and darting lizards. Today was cats, cheese sandwiches, and an afternoon stop for magnum ice cream.

Today was arriving to town, eating ricotta and spinach pizza in the grass and playing farkle.

Today was margaritas and more pizzas with friends. It was mountain views and baby sheep. It was people looking at my ’crater’ of a blister.

Today was frutos rojos chocolate and blister care before bed.

Today was effortless, simple, memorable.
